Submitting your Web Site
How do you submit a web site?
-
Submitting your site is done by suggesting it in directories where you can get a listing with a reciprocal link. Every time you submit, you will be asked for a Title and Description of your web site. Words within Title are typically used for anchor text in the link pointing to your site. Search engines determine how you site ranks in search results depending on your anchor text. That is why you should enter keywords relevant to your site when asked for a Title. The description of your web site must look attractive while remaining as short and objective as possible.
What is a Spider?
-
Spider, Robot, Bot or Crawler all refer to the same thing: a script that is methodically scanning the Internet link by link. Spiders feed the collected information (including anchor text) to search engines, which store it in a database and later use it to produce search results. The process of "indexing" information from the web is slow, especially for large search engines like Yahoo!, Google and MSN.
