Layout Grid Design
Bad Layout Design
-
Even although the text has been segmented into logical parts, their alignment
does not conform to any logic.
Centering all the text is a poor way of designing that was popular in the early
days of web publishing.
It's difficult for the eye to follow a lot of centered text.

Good Layout Design
-
From these examples, you can see how by simply changing the justification our text aligns to a set of vertical lines. Notice how the body text is indented, making it discernable from the abstract and title of the page.
This design is obviously far from complete, but it exemplifies how a layout grid can emerge from changing your text's features, especially its justification and indentation.
