Bad Legibility

Reading off a monitor is different compared to reading from a book. Long lines of text on the screen are difficult to follow. Ideally, each line should not exceed 60-80 characters. Contast is nother factor you must take into consideration. Notice how text in the abstract gets lost as it runs over the image of a keyboard.
Good Legibility

The layout has been altered and body text is now split into two columns. This not only makes our layout quicker to skim through but it also makes it easier to read it. Sensitivity to type is crucial for increasing the overall legibility of your design. Notice how the text itself becomes easier to absorb thanks simply to tiny adjustments in the letter and line spacing. Compared to the above version, letter characters in the body text do not interfere with each other as much. Although this is difficult to detect by an untrained eye, type has many subtle properties and features.
